I’ve been quiet, y’all, but I ain’t dead.
The last time I posted to this blog, which was very appropriately titled “Adventures of a Gillette Bachelorette,” much was different — but not as drastically as I once would have guessed.
I was living in Gillette, Wyoming, in what I now realize was probably the crappiest apartment I’ve ever seen in all my days. On the bright side, my immune system is strong as ever after drinking the water tainted with whatever was caked in those pipes.
I was right in the midst of finding out whether I had secured a job in Mason City, Iowa, which was weighing heavily on my already racing mind — though Mason City admittedly isn’t as snappy for rhyming purposes.
I didn’t yet have my cat, Juno, in my life. I simply don’t know how I got through the days.
My hadn’t yet spontaneously bleached my hair platinum blonde — just a casual, spur-of-the-moment decision, you know.
But rest assured, many constants remain — I’m still very much a novice adult. I can probably still count on one hand the amount of times I’ve turned the oven on in my (thankfully) less crappy and more affordable apartment. On more than one occasion, I’ve bought more tights to avoid doing laundry.
I still don’t hang out with Jillian Michaels as much as I should.
And now that the hubbub of another move is over, I’m settled into a different city, different job and different routine, but the same quirky, wandering (and wondering) chick remains.
I’m still guessing through my life and hoping for the best, and that’s really the fun of it.
I’m one of the lucky ones.
Now more than ever, my preference for my life to be utter chaos and mayhem is seen as socially acceptable (though not much would change if it weren’t). At 21, I’m not expected to have all the answers, though there was a time not long ago now when nearly everyone I knew thought I had it all figured out.
But like I said, sometimes it’s more fun not to.
AND EITHER WAY — I’m back to this blogging thing with a vengeance and unrealistic goals, such as I approach most aspects of my life. 😉
Cheers, and welcome to “Wanderlust & Pickup Trucks.”
